Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers will most likely need surgery to repair a plantar plate rupture after the season, as per NFL Network‘s Ian Rapoport. He will reportedly play through the pain and finish the remainder of the team's campaign in the 2020 NFL season.

The eight-time Pro Bowler previously sustained the toe injury back in their Week 11 tilt against the Green Bay Packers where he came out with an impressive performance of 288 yards on 24/36 passes completed and three passing touchdowns. The Colts eventually gutted it out and won on a nail-biting 34-31 victory.

However, the following week was a different story as the Colts mightily struggled from the field against division rival Tennessee Titans. The injury seemed to have affected Rivers' play as he threw inefficiently on a 24/42 passing clip for 295 yards and two touchdowns.

Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton led the way with 81 receiving yards on four catches and a touchdown followed by tight end Trey Burton who added 42 yards on three receptions and a touchdown scored for the Colts. Despite their efforts, the Titans still dominated from start to finish and ultimately ran away with a commanding 45-26 victory.

The Colts fell to a 7-4 record to place second in the AFC South while the Titans improved to gain sole possession of the division with an 8-3 tally. The Indy-based squad will be needing their veteran quarterback as they are poised to enter the playoff picture if they get to keep their pace by the end of the regular season.

Philip Rivers and the rest of the team will aim to vent ire against the Houston Texans who are currently riding the momentum of a two-game winning streak in Week 13 proceedings.
