T.Y. Hilton is back with the Colts, but he was very nearly headed to the Beltway.

Hilton said on the Pat McAfee Show he was on the verge of accepting a contract from the Baltimore Ravens. The four-time Pro Bowler added the Ravens offered more than the one-year, $10 million pact Hilton ultimately signed with the Colts.

The Ravens were one of the teams many expected to pursue receiving help. But they have now struck out on a pair of receivers showing loyalty to their incumbent teams.

Baltimore tried to pry JuJu Smith-Schuster away from the Pittsburgh Steelers, but Smith-Schuster elected to stay in Steel City. The Ravens once again came up short with Hilton, who has only ever played for one team.

Hilton expressed his gratitude at returning to the Colts on Twitter shortly after finalizing the terms of the contract. He went into detail about his love for the city and how they have embraced him during his interview with McAfee.

The 31-year-old also expressed excitement at getting to work with new quarterback Carson Wentz, who tweeted at him after the signing was announced:

“It's been incredible for him to just continue to reach out to me as I'm a free agent & I respect him a lot,” Hilton said of Wentz, via McAfee. “I can't wait to get to work with him & I told him you need me I'll be there I'll go through the fire with you.”

Hilton will be looking to bounce back from a somewhat underwhelming 2020 in which he battled nagging physical issues and had just 56 receptions for 762 yards.

But the Colts are likely glad he decided to come home instead of signing with another AFC contender.
