Washington Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz' return to Philadelphia to face the Eagles will occur in Week 10 of the 2022 NFL season, with the first matchup between the two teams scheduled for Week 3 in Washington. Asked about the highly anticipated game on Friday, Wentz said that he's ‘excited', per Pro Football Talk.

“I know that’ll be a big game. A lot of emotions,” Wentz said on NFL Network. “I’m sure fans will eat that one up and it’ll be fun — make for a good storyline. But at the end of the day, it’s going to be just another ballgame. It’s going to be a huge divisional game for us when that one comes. So I’m excited for it, but at the same time, I’m trying not to get too excited for that one, because, again, it’s just football. Can’t press. Can’t do too much.”

Wentz knows there will be “a lot of emotions” surrounding this game. The Commanders quarterback is certainly right about that- there will be a lot of emotions among Eagles fans, though they will likely be mostly negative ones.

The former first round pick was an MVP candidate during Philly's Super Bowl run in 2017 before he suffered a knee injury, knocking him out for the remainder of the year.

He never seemed to regain that MVP form in his remaining years with the Eagles- and his disconnect with the franchise and with then-head coach Doug Pederson led to his eventual trade.

Given the way things ended, it's reasonable to say that Eagles fans are excited for the Commanders signal caller's return to Philly, just for another reason.
