The Washington Commanders may have a new name, but the same issues that haunted them last season continue to bother them now. Last season, the franchise was involved in a major scandal regarding owner Dan Snyder and the toxic workplace culture in the team. Now, new testimonies reveal more horror stories for them.

One Emily Applegate, a former staff member of the Commanders claimed that a former boss of hers called her a Jewish slur. These comments were made in front of a US Congress committee investigating the alleged harassment in the Washington franchise (via Jerusalem Post)

“I was called Jewish slurs that refer to a non-Jewish woman that you are sexualizing… A slur which I will not repeat a rabbi described as ‘simply indefensible, condescending, racist, and misogynistic.'”

The ex-Washington staff member would later go on to claim that Snyder perpetuated this toxic culture in the franchise.

“Dan Snyder created a culture in which this behavior was accepted and encouraged.”

The investigation on the Commanders' workplace culture and Dan Snyder has been going on since last season. Leaks of Snyder's emails with other NFL staffers revealed that the Commanders owner has been using racist, misogynistic, and homophobic language to refer to some of it's staff. The emails were part of the said investigation on the franchise.

The Commanders had a rough season on and off the field. Aside from the investigation on the team, their home stadium was repeatedly exposed as a poorly-maintained building. The team didn't do much better: the then-Washington Football Team went 7 – 10, missing the playoffs completely.
