Fans of the Washington Commanders are finally able to breathe a sigh of relief now that Terry McLaurin's contract situation has been dealt with.

After months of negotiations with the Commanders and a growing sense that a deal would not get done during this offseason, the two sides agrees to a three-year extension worth up to $71 million. The budding star wide receiver shared a long message after agreeing to the deal, professing his commitment to the team and his desire to lead Washington to a Super Bowl.

McLaurin stressed that his willingness to work on his weaknesses is a big reason why he has persevered and earned a big contract extension. He got very choked up as he spoke about the extension and reflected on how badly he has wanted to play in the NFL. Seeing himself as a kid with a dream, he explained how great the feeling is to receive such a big contract and remain the face of his team.

McLaurin is the latest wide receiver to get a massive deal, joining the likes of Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, Cooper Kupp, Stefon Diggs, AJ Brown, Christian Kirk, Mike Williams and many more. The Commanders joined the party and shelled out to keep their star wide receiver happy and on the team. It was a massive price to pay but was also the right move.

The Commanders would have been very lost if McLaurin wasn't on board with them. After trading for Carson Wentz, McLaurin's value is emphasized as the former MVP candidate looks to re-establish himself. He has led the team in almost all receiving categories for three years now.

Now that he is a certain part of the Commanders' future, Terry McLaurin can get back to work and help Washington get back to the postseason.
