Washington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel was questionable coming into the Week 10 matchup, but he's expected to play on the road against the Seattle Seahawks, according to Ian Rapoport.
It wasn't clear earlier in the week whether or not Samuel would play this week. Toe injuries tend to linger, especially for running backs and receivers, but it sounds like Samuel is going to play through the pain and suit up against the Seahawks.
Curtis Samuel's offensive impact
Samuel has been a reliable option for quarterback Sam Howell this season. Samuel has recorded at least four receptions in five straight games for the Commanders, and has 35 receptions for 332 yards and two scores on the season.
Along with Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson, Samuel forms a talented receiver trio for the Commanders that Howell hasn't always been able to properly utilize. With his protection up front getting better and Howell getting rid of the ball faster over the last few weeks, Samuel should remain an important part of the offense as a player who can quickly rack up yards after the catch on little underneath routes.
At 4-5, the Commanders are still in the playoff hunt this season despite trailing the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys in the division. Washington was surprisingly a major seller at the trade deadline, moving Chase Young and Montez Sweat in two separate deals to other NFC teams.
The Commanders are in the process of evaluating whether Sam Howell can be the franchise quarterback or not moving forward, and having a viable weapon like Curtis Samuel healthy and active will paint a better picture against another NFC team vying for playoff positioning in the Seattle Seahawks.
