The Dallas Cowboys throttled the Washington Football Team Sunday night, 56-14. Dallas came out really strong on both sides of the ball. They got contributions from their stars, and even their backups in the victory. However, it was something at the very beginning of the game that got Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs' full attention.

After Dallas punted on their opening possession, Washington decided to try a home run shot on their first play. Terry McLaurin ran deep and Taylor Heinicke tried finding him for a big play. Instead, he found Trevon Diggs, who recorded his 11th interception on the season.

After the game, Diggs talked about how he was surprised that Washington would go right after him like that, saying “Like, wow. They really just did that.” Apparently that provided a little extra motivation for the Pro Bowl cornerback.

That must have infected the whole team as Dallas destroyed Washington. They scored 42 points in the first half, tied for the most in franchise history. That was a mark they previously set in 1969.

The Cowboys got contributions from all three phases Sunday. Dak Prescott threw for 340 yards and four touchdowns. He spread the ball around, too, completing passes to nine different receivers. That includes throwing a touchdown pass to offensive lineman Terence Steele.

The defense got into the act. Demarcus Lawrence intercepted Heinicke and ran it back 40 yards for a touchdown. Even special teams chipped in. Midway through the 3rd quarter, the Cowboys blocked a punt and Chauncey Golston recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown.

It was one of the most complete football games you will see this year. With the win, Dallas improved to 11-4 and are the #2 seed in the NFC. If they win out and the Packers lose one game, Dallas will earn the only first round bye. Meanwhile, Dallas essentially buried Washington's chances at making the playoffs this year.
