Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott cemented his place in franchise history with a record-breaking performance in Week 18 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Prescott threw for five touchdowns in the 51-26 win, allowing him to surpass Tony Romo's single-season tally for the most passing TDs in Cowboys history. Romo finished with a 36-touchdown season back in 2007. For his part, Dak finished the 2021 campaign with 37.

Dak Prescott, however, didn't want to take all the credit to himself. While he is a big reason for the Cowboys' offense to be clicking recently, he pointed out that the success he and the team had in the regular season is a collective effort.

“It's special but I mean a record like that, that's this team, that's this offense,” Prescott told Lisa Salters of ESPN, via NFL. “All the different guys that caught passes, the guys that protected, everybody played a part in it and I'm just the beneficiary of it. But, to know where I was a year ago, to be where we are now headed to the playoffs, [I'm] very excited.”

While some football purist would argue Prescott didn't really break the record given the additional game this 2021 campaign–Romo set his record in just 16 games–there is no doubt that it is a milestone worth celebrating.

Prescott needed that confidence booster heading to the playoffs after some inconsistencies, and the Cowboys can definitely benefit from a motivated Dak. Hopefully, the team can carry the momentum heading to the playoffs.
