A big topic around the Dallas Cowboys is Dak Prescott and an extension that should be coming his way at some point. Prescott and the Cowboys have started the initial discussions on an extension, and as a surprise to no one, the former Mississippi State standout wants a lot of money.

The Cowboys first offered Prescott a contract, but it's unclear exactly how much it was for. Prescott and his team gave a counter back near the end of May, but before Carson Wentz signed his extension.

According to Clarence Hill Jr. of the Star-Telegram, now that Wentz has agreed to a deal Wentz and his team have gone back to the Cowboys and asked for a deal that would pay him an average annual salary of $34 million. Wentz salary carries an average salary of $32 million per year, so this gives him a little bump over Wentz.

Prescott told the media on Thursday that he was happy for Wentz that he got an extension because he deserved it.

“I was happy for Carson, a guy that deserves it, a guy who has been great in this league,” Prescott told media once minicamp wrapped. “Had an awesome year and potentially, without the injury, wins the MVP. Congrats to Carson. Knowing him personally, he deserves it.”

There is still a lot of negotiations to do between Prescott and the Cowboys, and where his deal will end up is still a question, but it's hard to imagine he will walk away with anything less than $30 million a year.
