A Dallas resident had to be taken to the hospital after they were bitten by a dog owned by Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, according to 105.3 The Fan.

An official release from the police department read “officers received a call this morning after a resident advised them they observed a loose dog in their front yard fighting with another dog through a fence. The resident then went outside and attempted to intervene in the fight and was bitten by one of the dogs, causing non-life-threatening injuries.”

Prescott was reportedly not home at the time of the incident, and the dogs escaped through an unsecured door. The Fan reports that the dog who did the biting has been transported to a local animal shelter and will be quarantined for the next 10 days. The other dog was returned to Prescott's home.

Prescott hasn't been charged with anything at the moment, but reportedly could be hit with a “dog at large” charge, which is a class C misdemeanor. The charge is punishable with a fine of up to $500.

While it's a scary incident, it won't effect Prescott's standing with the league. Prescott is reportedly looking for a mega-extension from the Cowboys soon, as he prepares to head into the final year of his rookie deal.

He'll have a new offensive coordinator this season, as Scott Linehan was fired last month. Last season, Prescott led the Cowboys to an NFC East division title, and helped them beat the Seahawks in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. They were eliminated by the Rams in the Divisional round the following week.
