The Dallas Cowboys have had about as bad of a year that any team could hope against. Still, they find themselves atop the NFC East standings even with A 6-9 record. While it isn't the record that any No.1 team would imagine having at the end of the season, Ezekiel Elliott made sure to give his thoughts on what's clearly been an out-of-touch season.

From Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer:

“I mean, it’s a little weird—but this is a weird-a– year,” Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott said over the cell, from the Dallas locker room late Sunday. “Like, if there was a year, this would be the year. So we’re gonna get back to work and get ready to do everything we can to go win next week, so we can have a chance at winning this division.”

As it stands, the Cowboys are caught in a tight race with the Washington Football Team, and both teams can ultimately decide their fates during Week 17. The New York Giants are gaining steam as well as they look to take on the Cowboys in the regular-season finale.

The Cowboys do look to be on a roll, however, and that could play well as they head into their final game of the regular season. They're on a three-game winning streak with their latest 37-17 against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16.

If anyone will have their hand in the cookie jar that reads “Cowboys long shot”, it'll be Elliott. The halfback has rallied up 937 rushing yards coming into Week 17 from 230 carries.
