It's been a rough game for the Dallas Cowboys so far, as the Denver Broncos have an answer for everything. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, their superstar running back Ezekiel Elliott is battling some injuries. We'll see how it plays out, but it's a situation to monitor.
According to Tom Pelissero, Elliott has been benched multiple times but did confirm the running back is dealing with a knee contusion. It's not the worst injury in the world, as players can typically continue on with a knee contusion. However, it can get worse at any moment.

It seems Dallas believes they need Zeke to win this game. According to Ed Werder, the Cowboys brought Elliott back into the lineup right after halftime. He carried the ball twice in their opening drive. This is a sign of potential desperation, as the Cowboys are down big to the Denver Broncos.

Of course, a couple of scores gets Dallas right back into this game. However, this is an odd scenario considering what's at stake. The Cowboys have a stranglehold on the NFC East and can afford to lose a game or two in their hunt for the playoffs. Additionally, they have Tony Pollard who is a very capable running back.
The team is risking the long-term health of their superstar running back just for a chance to beat the Broncos. We'll see how this plays out, but you'd think the Cowboys would want to rest Ezekiel Elliott and save him for another day. This is a team that's looked like a serious playoff contender and they'll need their stars for later in the season.
