Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore will reportedly stay put with the team after signing a multi-year extension that will most likely be a three-year deal, per ESPN‘s Todd Archer.

Moore was previously linked to being one of the candidates for the vacant head-coaching position with the Boise State Broncos. The collegiate squad recently parted ways with former head coach Bryan Harsin after a seven-year tenure in Idaho who went on to pack his bags to coach the Auburn Tigers for the 2021 college football season.

After declining to coach his alma mater in the amateur ranks, Moore was grateful and expressed his excitement to continue his work with the Cowboys.

“I love Boise State. I will always root for them, and I hope one day to be a part of the program again,” Moore said. “We are building something special here in Dallas. I am thankful to the Jones family and [head coach] Mike McCarthy for providing me with the opportunity to coach these special players. I am excited for us to put it all together and finish the job.”

The former quarterback went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft but managed to get picked up by the Detroit Lions where he stayed until 2014. After his contract expired, Moore was eventually signed by the Cowboys in the 2015 season and served as a backup to former Cowboys QB1 Tony Romo before hanging his cleats in 2017.

He then pursued a coaching career with the Cowboys after his playing days where he served as the team's quarterbacks coach back in 2018. Moore was promoted to become the Cowboys' offensive coordinator in 2019, which he continues to hold to this day.

Moore served as the mentor for quarterback Dak Prescott where he had a stellar individual campaign last season. The two-time Pro Bowler was already playing with good momentum in the early stages of their campaign this season until he suffered a gruesome right ankle injury in Week 5 against the New York Giants.

Prescott's absence eventually left the team's offense in shambles but Moore managed to steer the group back in the right direction. The Cowboys are currently holding a 6-9 record and second in the NFC East.

After a newly-signed extension, Kellen Moore will aim to contribute for a Week 17 victory over the Giants to potentially grab a postseason seat for the Cowboys.
