Micah Parsons is just built different. The Dallas Cowboys originally drafted him to be a linebacker, but injuries have forced the rookie to play off of his normal position. Despite that, Parsons has excelled wherever Mike McCarthy has placed him on defense. He truly is a one-of-a-kind rookie, as he's been playing way above everyone's expectations.

Well, except for his own expectations, apparently. When asked about his stellar rookie season for the Cowboys, Micah Parsons responded with an emphatic declaration. (via David Helman)

Micah Parsons regularly gets asked if he’s exceeded his own expectations or surprised himself during this fantastic rookie season.

Asked tonight, he says “I ain’t exceed anything at all.”

Parsons has maintained all year that he has a high expectation of himself.

Parsons' versatility has been the backbone of the Cowboys' incredibly successful season. Trevon Diggs is rightfully taking all the headlines for his penchant for plucking passes from the air. However, without Parsons and his malleability on defense, the Cowboys defense won't be where it is today.

Micah Parsons' incredible rookie season has him pegged as the clear-cut favorite to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year trophy. He has the potential to be an elite pass rusher as well as be one of the best linebackers in the game. That versatility is a sure-fire way for the Cowboys rookie to succeed. Thursday night's game against the New Orleans Saints cemented his status as one of the best defensive talents in the league.

Clearly, though, Parsons knows he's always had this in him. The Cowboys rookie isn't surprised by his success, since he's worked his butt off to be in this position. That kind of mentality is terrifying for the rest of the league. If Parsons can keep this up, he'll go down as one of the greatest to ever play.
