It has been a wild past few weeks for the Dallas Cowboys, who just beat down the Atlanta Falcons 43-3, in a game where not even that disparate final score could tell you just how dominant the Cowboys were on Sunday.

It was just the opposite the week before, however, as the Denver Broncos dominated Dallas for 95% of the game before Dak Prescott threw a couple garbage-time touchdowns. That's exactly why, ahead of the Falcons contest, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy pulled a new trick out his back pocket to get the Dallas players motivated for the next contest.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network via Twitter, McCarthy had Cowboys staff hand out “Monkey Butt” to the Cowboys players in the locker room in the week of practice leading up the Falcons game.

For those unfamiliar with Monkey Butt, it is an “anti-chafing powder
it's got a variety of different uses. For instance, if you're sore from, I don't know
Getting your butt kicked last week!” according to Pelissero.

As noted in the tweet, this is the second year in a row that Mike McCarthy has had the Cowboys take an interesting method to bouncing back from an ugly loss. In 2020, Dallas took to smashing watermelons before they took down the Minnesota Vikings.

Clearly, McCarthy has some sort of crazy insight for what gets NFL players going, even after brutal losses. This kind of youthful energy is a great sight to see for him, as his tenure back with the Green Bay Packers was often criticized for sticking with the status quo too often and not trying to innovate new strategies to increase team performance.

It's safe to say that he has led the Cowboys to being legitimate contenders this year, as they are comfortably atop the NFC East, and have shown flashes of dominance on both sides of the ball.
