The Dallas Cowboys have a young receiving core, and it has been the focal point of a lot of discussions this NFL offseason. Some wonder if there are enough weapons for Dak Prescott to throw to or if the offense will struggle again this year.

The Cowboys tried to bolster their wide receiver room this offseason bringing in Tavon Austin from the Los Angeles Rams.  Austin did a sit down with Calvin Watkins of The Athletic talking about goals for this season.

“I just want to win. I’ve been the No.1 receiver, I’ve been the No. 2 receiver, I’ve been when they don’t classify me as a receiver. I just want to win and help a team do my part, make some plays and have some fun and bring a Super Bowl to these Cowboys.”

Austin has lofty expectations but really feels like this a team that can get it done. Austin admits that he was shocked when he was traded, and it took about a week to get over it. He has really enjoyed his time with Dallas and has especially enjoyed working with his new wide receiver coach, Sanjay Lal.

They put me in different positions, seeing what I can do. Our receiver coach (Sanjay Lal) is probably one of the best that I ever played for, he makes me a better and better player every day. I can see it. I can’t ask for more than that.

He’s a players coach, man, just the way he breaks down certain angles for us, certain stunts how to get us in and out of our breaks faster than what we thought he was doing especially for me. He’s hard on me, always.

If the Cowboys are going to have success this year, Austin is going to need to have a big year and help lead the wide receiver room.
