The Dallas Cowboys were locked in a tough defensive battle Thursday night against the New Orleans Saints. They couldn't get anything going on the ground, as Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard both struggled. Then, Pollard turned on the jets and showed off his speed.

Pollard took the toss to the outside, cut upfield and took it to the house for the 58-yard touchdown. Pollard has been getting a ton of praise this year, with some arguing that he has been the better running back between he and Ezekiel Elliott.

At this point, there is no debate at least as to who is more explosive. While running down the sideline, Pollard ran faster than any ball carrier for the Cowboys this season, reaching a top speed of 21.17 miles per hour.

It is also the fastest rush of Pollard's career. He previously set his career high last week on a 99-yard kick return touchdown against the Las Vegas Raiders. Elliott has been banged up lately, and it showed again on Thursday as he looked a bit hobbled at times.

The Saints feature one of the best rush defenses in the league, so it was no surprise the Cowboys failed to get much going on the ground.

The rush from Pollard helped seal the game, as the Cowboys defense took over from there. They intercepted Saints quarterback Taysom Hill four times, the most for any Dallas defense in almost 11 years. Dallas improved to 8-4 on the season with a 27-17 road victory and now hold a healthy 2.5 game lead in the NFC East.
