The Dallas Cowboys suffered yet another disappointing playoff exit on Sunday and legendary quarterback and NFL analyst Troy Aikman is pointing the finger.

Aikman spoke on how he believes the Cowboys dropped the ball in regards to getting their best wide receiver in CeeDee Lamb involved, who had just one catch in the game.

Via Jon Machota of The Athletic:

“…..You're going to complete the pass whenever you want. Michael Irvin would've had 10 catched by halftime for the Cowboys if they played us the way they played CeeDee Lamb in that game…the game is not that difficult. I've got a great player at wide receiver and a corner is playing him single coverage, throw him the ball. He's gong to win most of the time.”

Aikman certainly makes a point. The Cowboys relied on Lamb all season long to be one of their most impactful offensive weapons. Against the 49ers, he was barely targeted as Dallas opted to get Dalton Schultz, Amari Cooper, and Cedrick Wilson the majority of the touches.

Unfortunately, the Cowboys are paying for it. While they came extremely close to winning at the end of regulation if it wasn't for a very controversial play-call, this team could've been in a much better position to actually win on Sunday if Lamb was leading the offense as he did for most of 2021. Now, it's back to the drawing board.
