The Dallas Cowboys' brass has expressed nothing but sheer disappointment since their division rival Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl LII. Needless to say, they will need to have a big offseason if they are to reclaim spot atop the NFC East.

As a result, the Cowboys will be sure to do their due diligence in free agency and the 2018 NFL Draft to bring in some more talent. According to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News, among the notable names that have resurfaced on their radar is New Orleans safety Kenny Vaccaro:

The Cowboys have long had interest in Kenny Vaccaro. Perhaps it's finally time to seal the deal. The Cowboys liked Vaccaro when he was coming out of Texas in the 2013 draft. The Cowboys had the No. 18 pick in 2013, but didn't want to trade up to draft a safety.

Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate confirmed reports of their interest after rumors swirled about the Cowboys possibly trading for Vaccaro last offseason.

Needless to say, Dallas has been awfully patient with the process of acquiring Vaccaro's services. It seems they had almost pulled the trigger early in the 2017 NFL season. However, the Saints managed to hold off on the fire sale after making other notable moves.

Fortunately, their patience may soon pay off if they are able to sign Vaccaro when free agency starts in March. The Cowboys have had reservations regarding the salary cap and which players they are ultimately going to keep around for the long haul. That said, Dallas may be able to get Vaccaro –a Brownwood native — to take a hometown discount.
