Onside kicks are nearly impossible to convert to regain position and the Dallas Cowboys showed that they can sometimes result in points for the receiving team.

While the San Francisco 49ers were hoping to get a chance to tie the game, CeeDee Lamb returned the onside kick 47 yards for a game-sealing touchdown.

When kicking an onside kick, kickers tend to try and kick the ball to where it bounces up as high as possible. But sometimes when that happens, a wide receiver can high-point the ball and have space to return the kick.

That's exactly what happened for the Cowboys as Robbie Gould's kick bounced straight to Lamb. The rookie wideout would proceed to run past the incoming defenders, officially putting the game out of reach.

We've seen a similar play this season when A.J. Brown recovered an onside kick for the Tennessee Titans. The Titans defeated the Indianapolis Colts in that game, with Brown's touchdown securing the victory.

Lamb has had a stellar rookie season for the Cowboys despite the offense losing Dak Prescott to a season-ending ankle injury. The rookie first-round pick out of Oklahoma now has 66 receptions for 827 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns after Sunday's win over the 49ers.

With the Washington Football Team losing on Sunday to the Seattle Seahawks, the Cowboys are now just one game behind the lead in the NFC East. Given that, while it was likely a worthless score in the game, Lamb's touchdown guarantees Dallas a chance to remain in the race in the NFC East.
