When Game 7 of the Western Conference finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Golden State Warriors concluded, the NBA world was saddened by the prospect of not watching TNT's crew, including Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, Shaquille O'Neal, and Craig Sager, working a game until next season.

Well, we'll get our fix with at least one of them.

Sager, one of the most popular and revered sideline reporters in the business, will join ESPN's crew for the Game 6 of the NBA Finals between the Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night (per Ben Cafardo of ESPN Media Zone).

Sager is set to receive the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYs this summer. In April, Sager revealed that his cancer was no longer in remission, and doctors had only given him months to live. He has refused to give up.

Sager expressed how thankful he is for the opportunity:

“I’d like to thank Turner and ESPN for approaching me with this tremendous opportunity to be part of The Finals broadcast team,” said Sager.  “I’ve been watching the series very closely and, while I do not want to distract in any way from the event itself, I look forward to being in the building for what will be an incredibly exciting Game 6.  The NBA community is a very special one and this is a great honor.”

ESPN's executive vice president of production and programming John Wildhack raved about the tremendous worker and human being that Sager is, as well as his excitement to have him on board for Game 6.

“Craig is an iconic member of the NBA family who indelibly makes his mark on each and every broadcast. I know our entire team is delighted to work with Craig for Game 6. We all agree his professional reputation is second-to-none, though it’s his personal reputation – that of class, selflessness and respect – which makes this even more special for our team. We hope that this will be a special night for Craig and for NBA fans. We are grateful for his interest and for the continued collaboration with our friends at Turner.”
