The development of the film adaptation of Borderlands continues in full with the acquisition of another fantastic actor for the cast. Creed II's Florian Munteanu joins the star-studded cast as the massive Psycho Krieg. The former boxer joins big names, Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jack Black in the upcoming video game movie adaptation. Munteanu's addition hints towards the entire production slowly coming together but we're not completely out of the woods yet.

STEP INTO THE RING

Director Eli Roth spoke excitedly about their decision to cast Munteanu as Krieg. Roth often shares his blatant respect and excitement whenever a new member of the cast is confirmed for the Borderlands story.

“Florian brings real humanity and multiple layers to a character who on the surface seems totally insane and brutally savage. Krieg was by far the most difficult role to cast, and Florian brought him to life and grounded him in a way that I didn’t know was possible. He’s going to be a brilliant Krieg and will fit in perfectly with our incredible cast.”

Munteanu as Krieg will play the part of protector for the small and insane explosives expert Tiny Tina. Recently, the Borderlands production finalized Avengers Infinity War's Ariana Greenblatt for the role of Tiny Tina.

Krieg's addition to the movie cast surprised many due to the character being a DLC add-on for Borderlands 2. The movie adaptation previously only focused on playable characters from the first two games and some notable NPCs. Munteanu's role in the movie may indicate the possibility of seeing the other DLC character in the film. Naturally, we won't find out until the next official cast announcement gets out. For now, we're happy that one of the lesser-known characters gets his time to shine in the film adaptation.
