In the midst of a heated MLB lockout, Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts has reportedly expressed interest in purchasing an English football club. His baseball team's newly-signed pitcher Marcus Stroman isn't exactly being supportive.

The Cubs owner has been linked to potentially purchasing the English Premier League club Chelsea as Russian oligarch and longtime owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly looked to sell his ownership stake.

With the news, Cubs pitcher Marcus Stroman was vocal on Twitter agreeing at the “ridiculous” notion that owners want to squeeze more money in MLB CBA negotiations while its owners are very freely able to make bids for multi-billion sports franchises.

“Truly is ridiculous,” said Stroman on the Cubs owner.

With the MLB and MLBPA lockout in full swing, the optics definitely aren't great for the owner of one of the most respected franchises in the Cubs to be flexing his financial muscles with a potential purchase that could be worth several billion dollars. Roman Abramovich's asking price is reportedly slated at around £ 3 billion, which comes out to roughly $4 billion.

Stroman is heading into his first season with the Cubs after signing a three-year, $71 million deal in early December. How soon he'll suit of for them and how his relationship with his team owner develop remain to be seen.
