The Chicago Cubs are heading into the MLB offseason with a new era beginning. Theo Epstein and company will have some tough decisions to make and some of those will come with what to do with their current roster. One player to keep an eye on is All-Star catcher Willson Contreras.

According to a report from Jeff Passan of ESPN, multiple teams believe that the Cubs will make Contreras available via trade this offseason. That could make for a big-time blockbuster for Chicago.

Contreras is widely viewed as one of the most talented catchers in baseball when he is healthy. He has had trouble staying on the field over the past couple of years, especially in the middle and latter stages of the year. Moving on from Contreras wouldn't be easy, but the Cubs need to make some moves.

Last season with the Cubs, Contreras ended up playing in 105 games. He recorded a .272 batting average to go along with 24 home runs and 64 RBI's. Those numbers show how big of an impact he can have, especially if he stays healthy and doesn't miss chunks of time.

At 27 years old, Contreras is in the prime of his career. There will be plenty of teams with interest in acquiring him if the Cubs do make him available. This is certainly an intriguing situation to keep an eye on as the offseason gets underway.

Expect to hear plenty more about the Cubs before too long. David Ross is set to start a new era as the Cubs' manager and roster moves are going to be made this offseason.
