Curtis Blaydes is very familiar with Francis Ngannou after facing him multiple times in his career. The two UFC heavyweights have been compared with each other for years as they both came up at the same time.
Francis Ngannou is currently in a tricky spot as he's looking to re-sign with the UFC but he also wants the money in boxing. Curtis Blaydes believes Ngannou should just go to boxing and make the most money possible.
“If I’m him, I’m just going to box,” Blaydes told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour via MMA Fighting. “They make a lot of money, and he would make a lot of money against Joshua or Tyson or Deontay. He would be rich. So if I’m him, I would let my knee heal up and get ready to box.”
There have been mixed opinions on how Francis Ngannou would do if he was able to cross over into boxing. Curtis Blaydes figures the UFC heavyweight would actually do pretty well in the sport considering his power and athleticism.
“Based off the top boxers at heavyweight division I’ve watched, I think he does well,” Blaydes stated. “I think he has the reach. We know has the explosion and the athleticism. With those gloves, he may not have the same impact, but I think he can beat any of those guys.”
It's a tricky situation with Francis Ngannou and the UFC as they're looking to figure out his contract. Curtis Blaydes will be hoping to get a trilogy with the champion as he continues to climb up the division.
