Damwon Gaming KIA (DWG), who won the League of Legends World Championship back in the 2020 season and reached the finals in Worlds 2021, have just revealed their much-awaited roster for next year. The reigning LCK champions are taking their mid-jungle core of Heo “ShowMaker” Su and Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu into 2022. The team is also bolstered by the addition of bot duo Seo “deokdam” Dae-gil and Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu as well as Noh “Burdol” Tae-yoon up top.

The announcement came on Wednesday through a livestream on DWG's Twitch channel and later an official Facebook post. Fans will undoubtedly be happy to see the return of Canyon and ShowMaker, touted as among the world's best in their respective positions. The rising superstars may seem like newer faces on the block, but they have stuck with Damwon for a couple of seasons now, leading the squad to the 2020 Worlds trophy and back-to-back LCK championships. Their contracts had expired this year, but have opted to re-sign with the org for the upcoming season.

On the other hand, DWG lost veteran top laner Kim “Khan” Dong-ha, who had to enlist for military service. The powerful bot duo of Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun and Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee also made their exits from the org. In their place, Damwon picked up Nongshim RedForce's duo of deokdam and Kellin, who already have established a fearsome synergy. In the top lane, meanwhile, Burdol is coming from Gen.G, another top contender in Korea.

After the disappointment of losing the Worlds 2021 finals to China's EDward Gaming (EDG) and missing the chance at becoming back-to-back champions, Damwon will hope to continue their dominance on both the domestic and global stage with their new roster. That said, the interesting roster shuffle this off-season could definitely shake up the standings.
