The New England Patriots seemingly did not have an answer to Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox, particularly in the first period of Saturday night's AFC Wild Card game at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park. Knox played in that period as though to remind Bill Belichick and the Pats about how much they should be missing the downfield killing machine that they used to have — Rob Gronkowski.

Knox struck early for the Bills, hooking up with quarterback Josh Allen for two touchdowns right in the very first frame to dig New England an early hole that has only gone deeper since. His first touchdown of the game deserves a million replays for years to come. With the temperature hitting single digit, Josh Allen took a snap and spent what appeared to be forever scrambling in the backfield to find an open receiver, who, in that situation, was no other than Knox. It was the first of the many touchdowns the Bills would shower New England's defense the rest of the way.

It did not take long for Allen and Knox to hook up again. After Micha Hyde pulls off a sensational end-zone interception of a Mac Jones pass, the Bills immediately went down to work and finished a 10-play drive with…you guessed it…another touchdown grab by Knox.

Knox, who finished the regular season with 587 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 49 receptions has become the Rob Gronkowski of the Bills, and he's already introduced himself to New England in the end zone back in Buffalo's 33-21 win in Foxborough.

The Bills are bringing it on to New England, and Knox's explosion early in the contest started the sounding of the death knell for New England's season. With a big lead in the fourth quarter, Buffalo will next face the winner of the other Wild Card matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs for the rights to advance to the Divisional Round where the Tennessee Titans await the winner of this Patriots-Bills showdown.
