Demetrious Johnson got back on track in ONE Championship as he beat Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a mixed rules bout. The former MMA champion now finds himself ready to come back and claim a title in the promotion.
Demetrious Johnson took a rare loss last year and many were wondering if this was the beginign of the end of his MMA career. Johnson never felt like that was the case heading into his ONE Championship fight with Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
“I never felt that I lost my mojo,” Johnson told MMAFighting. “When I win my fights, yes, it feels great, it feels amazing, and when I lose it sucks, and I don’t want to lose. So I try to keep myself at an even playing field. My fight against Rodtang, it was a great fight, I loved it, I’m very happy I got the victory, and it was awesome to share the ring with him. I’m just humble and I’m grateful that I was able to get this win and come out healthy and unscathed.”
ONE Championship had an epic event and Demetrious Johnson was a big part of that as he competed in a rare special rules bout. He'll be looking to take time off and get away from MMA for a little bit before returning in a matter of months.
“It will be summer time,” Johnson said about his planned returned. “No opponent yet. It’s gonna be July, August, summer time. I’ve got a couple trips and then I’ll be right back into training camp.”
