There was some hope that the Denver Broncos could pull back into the playoff race with a win against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night. Instead of pulling off the upset, the Broncos looked lost on both sides of the ball. Joe Flacco is clearly not the future of this team and the offense couldn't get anything done.

Instead of the Broncos trying to hold onto hope that they can get hot and pull off a miracle, it's time the Broncos realize it's time that they start to trade away some of their guys and build for the future.

Emmanuel Sanders

Emmanuel Sanders is in the final year of his contract and there have been no indications that he wants to re-sign with the Broncos. Benjamin Albright of KOA Colorado reported that several teams have called about Sanders and they have all been told he's not available.

That report came out before the Broncos lost to the Chiefs, but if that is still the case after the loss, the Broncos are making a big mistake.

Through the first seven games of the 2019 season, Sanders has caught 30 passes for 367 yards and a pair of touchdowns. It's unclear how much they are being offered, but a decent draft pick would probably come in return.

Joe Flacco

Joe Flacco is a bit trickier because it might be hard to find a trade partner, but if there is anyone that wants him, the Broncos need to pull the trigger.

It's clear that Flacco isn't the future of this team and he is probably better off just retiring, but there is little hope of that with the amount of money he is going to make in the next couple of years. Flacco is set to make over $44 million over the next two years which is going to make it very hard for the Broncos to trade him.

However, the Broncos did make sure that the 2020 season is a team option year — basically, the Broncos or another NFL team could simply not bring back Flacco for next season.

Even if the Broncos have to give up a draft pick to pull off a trade for Flacco, that is probably still okay because of the cap room that it will clear up.

Drew Lock is currently on injured reserve, but if he is activated, he can't do much worse than what Flacco has done this year.

Chris Harris

Jalen Ramsey is off the trade market and there are still a ton of teams that need secondary help, which means Chris Harris could be a top commodity.

Harris is another guy on a one year deal that is probably going to change teams after this season, so why not get a little something in return?

It is probably going to be a late-round pick, but that is still better than nothing. This team isn't going anywhere so who cares if the defense gets a little worse, right?

Royce Freeman

Trading Royce Freeman would take the perfect deal, but if a juicy offer comes along, they should take a close look at trading him.

Freeman was a disappointment last year running the ball and it's clear Phillip Lindsay is the future of this team at running back.

Freeman has had a couple of nice games and the value would be high for a team looking for a complementary running back. It would take a higher draft pick to have the Broncos give up on him so early, but they should be taking calls on everyone, including Freeman.
