Could we possibly see an NFL MVP in a Houston Texans jersey? The city of Houston has not seen an NFL MVP since Earl Campbell in 1979, and he was wearing an Oilers jersey. After Sunday's hard-fought victory over fellow MVP candidate Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, Deshaun Watson is making his case as the league's most outstanding player.

What a spectacular two weeks it has been for the third-year quarterback out of Clemson. Last week Watson went absolutely bananas as he threw for over 400 yards and five scores but one could argue that his Week 6 performance was even more meaningful.

Although he did turn the ball over twice, Deshaun Watson was able to do what great quarterbacks do, lead his team when they needed it most. After being down by a point in the fourth quarter, Watson led his team with a 12 play 93-yard drive.

The Kansas City defense knew what was coming and couldn't stop it, as Watson justifiably took the ball in himself as he danced around a couple of defenders into the end zone. The Texans were able to score despite being penalized three times on that same drive. Watson was able to overcome the penalties knowing the importance a score was in that situation.

What made his performance even more spectacular was the fact that he did this against the leagues presumed MVP. In the years biggest games, Watson has not failed in showing up for them with Sunday being the grandest of them all.

While no one has questioned Watson's talent, it is a matter of staying healthy for the franchise QB. He has been among the league's leaders in quarterback hits as the Texans came into Sunday ranked 26th in the league in terms of sacks allowed with almost 4.

Head coach Bill O'Brien must get Watson some protection as an injury to their franchise quarterback would essentially end their season.

With the Colts, Raiders, and Jaguars scheduled to face off against Houston in the coming weeks, Watson will have a multitude of chances to add to his MVP resume and silence his critics. With all the hype surrounding Lamar Jackson, Watson is the model to what they hope Jackson becomes so while he's here, let's appreciate him.
