As the Detroit Pistons are currently sporting the third-worst record in the NBA, any casual NBA fan may just feel that the Pistons are terrible and not a fun sight to watch. That could be the case at the early juncture of their campaign, but they performed at a better level over the past few games. Cade Cunningham's return from a high ankle sprain and Jerami Grant's recovery from a thumb injury has been instrumental to the recent stretch of the Pistons.

Saddiq Bey has been a magnificent scorer for the depleted Pistons depth chart with his long-range shooting prowess. The numbers of these three individuals is a terrific indicator that Detroit have talented folks on their roster who have the potential to be building blocks and revitalize the status of the Pistons in the league. They will likely have another lottery pick in bolstering their lineup and aid the young core of Cunningham, Grant, Bey, and Isaiah Stewart. Before that, let's analyze how the Pistons will wrap up this campaign.

Detroit Pistons Predictions

Cade Cunningham will be a finalist for ROTY

Even if he has missed several games already this season due to various injuries, Cunningham's talent is unquestioned as it has reached expectations as the number one overall pick. Evan Mobley and Scottie Barnes are receiving more of the limelight and attention, probably due to the winning success of their respective teams. It is not necessarily wrong, but people should not forget that Cunningham is already leading the Detroit team in his rookie season.

Even if there are older people on the roster, it is obvious that Cunningham has been tasked by Dwane Casey to be their franchise cornerstone, and he has not disappointed. As Cunningham's game matures and develops, he will be more of a triple-double machine who will constantly create for himself and his teammates. The repertoire Cunningham possesses is a perfect model for a franchise player.

Isaiah Stewart finishes this year similar to last season

As one of the possible breakout candidates this season after the departure of Mason Plumlee, Isaiah Stewart has struggled with playing in the first unit and being the main man anchoring the rim. His stats have not increased immensely as his averages are almost similar to last season when he was playing five less minutes per game.

Casey is also having trouble playing him more minutes because when team go small, Stewart has a tough time guarding quicker forwards or big men. Additionally, Stewart's shooting ability is still subpar, but one must highlight also his strength in utilizing his wide frame and converting easy baskets at the rim. With the improvement of some of their guards and wings, it will open up the paint for him to raise his efficiency as he must also anchor the paint at a better rate as well for the final games of the Pistons.

Saddiq Bey will finish top 10 in 3's made this season

Despite being ice cold with his three-point percentage this year, Bey has bounced back remarkably as he tallied incredible games where he would propel Detroit to close, nip-and-tuck victories. Bey is not shy to let it fly from rainbow country as Casey gives him the green light to chuck it up when he is open. Conversely, it can affect his efficiency and percentages, but that is part of the process of molding a spectacular shooter.

Bey is currently 14th in the league in made threes for the season, but he is only eight away from 10th placer Donovan Mitchell. With 18 games remaining and Detroit focused on player development, Bey will receive a plethora of open shots, and there is a high possibility of him reaching the 200 threes made mark. His streakiness can be an issue especially for one of the reliables of the Pistons, but it is not far-fetched for him to rectify that issue and become more consistent with his long-range shooting prowess.

It is definitely another lost season for the Detroit franchise, but there are several optimistic sights with their roster construction. Their core has the pathway in blossoming to legitimate threats in the next few years as fans will continue tuning into more Detroit games once again in the next few years.
