The Detroit Pistons will be having a new home starting next season.

The formal announcement will be made on Tuesday at Cass Technical High School where Pistons owner Tom Gores is expected to name Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit as the team's new home court.

The move has long been in the discussions since Gores bought the franchise and will now be a reality for the team after last playing in downtown Detroit more than 40 years ago.

Little Caesars Arena will also be the home of the Detroit Red Wings and will have a 21,000 seating capacity. It is scheduled to open right in time for the NHL season less than a year from now.

It is still unclear what will be the plans for The Palace at Auburn Hills although some news have surfaced that it will be redeveloped for other uses and will continue to host concerts and shows.

The press conference on Tuesday is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. with Ilitch Holdings CEO Christopher Ilitch and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan also expected to be in attendance.
