Despite an injury-riddled 2021 campaign, the Los Angeles Dodgers are bringing back left-hander Clayton Kershaw on a one-year deal for the 2022 season.

Via Ken Rosenthal:

As noted by Rosenthal, Kershaw missed last year's playoffs for the Dodgers due to an elbow issue as they were bounced in the NLCS by the eventual World Series champion, Atlanta Braves. The three-time Cy Young winner still had a respectable season, however, posting a 3.55 ERA across 22 starts. He threw 121.1 innings and struck out 144 batters in the process. But, that was Kershaw's highest ERA since his rookie year in 2008. That being said, the veteran southpaw certainly has something to prove in 2022 for the Dodgers as he aims to get healthy.

Los Angeles has one of the strongest rotations in all of baseball, led by hard-throwing righty Walker Buehler. Julio Urias has also taken significant strides and profiles to be an important piece for the long term. Although Kershaw doesn't throw in the mid 90's anymore, he still possesses very efficient stuff and has the ability to get outs on a consistent basis.

The Dodgers are already a World Series favorite and if Trevor Bauer could potentially return to the team after his sexual assault saga, it would do wonders for this pitching staff and the organization's aspirations come October.

Nevertheless, LA fans will be thrilled to have Kershaw back at Chavez Ravine.
