The Miami Dolphins continue to make moves that could benefit the team in the future. According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Dolphins and Albert Wilson have negotiated a restructured deal that still allows him to become a free agent next year.

Heading into the 2020 season, Wilson is entering the final year of his current contract with the Dolphins. Back in 2018, Wilson signed a three-year, $24 million deal to join Miami in free agency.

Before restructuring his contract, Wilson was slated to have a $9.4 million base salary and carry a $10.8 million cap hit in 2020. However, with his new restructured deal, Wilson is going to reduce his base salary to only $3 million. At the same time, he will have an opportunity to receive another $1 million in incentives.

In all likeliness, the Dolphins likely took some of Wilson's salary and turned it into bonuses. This will allow the team to have even more financial flexibility, while also assuring that Wilson receives the money he deserves.

Over the course of his first two seasons in Miami, Wilson has combined for 69 receptions for 742 yards and five touchdowns. Despite his seemingly lackadaisical numbers, the former Kansas City Chiefs receiver has been a valuable asset for the Dolphins. Unfortunately, injuries prevented him from being as effective as usual in 2019.

For Wilson, he's motivated to have a productive season with the Dolphins in 2020. In the event that he does, he could have a handful of teams interested in signing him in 2021. Even though he restructured his deal for the upcoming season, Wilson seemingly still plans on testing free agency next offseason.
