Matt Breida was traded to the Miami Dolphins this offseason, but even on his new squad, he sees a lot of similarities to the San Francisco 49ers and his old running back room.

Along with Breida, the Dolphins signed Jordan Howard and drafted Malcolm Perry in the seventh round. The team also has Myles Gaskin and Kalen Ballage back from last year's squad.

With the 49ers, the running back room was crowded, and Breida feels that even though that might be the case with the Dolphins, it's just a bunch of guys who want to make everyone better:

“We’re all coming in there willing to compete, willing to make each other better,” Breida said on NFL Network. “That’s one thing that I learned quick in these virtual meetings with these is guys is that they’re eager to get better. That’s kinda how we were last year in the running back room in San Francisco and that’s gonna go a long way to help us get where we gotta get.”

Last season, the 49ers were one of the best rushing teams in the NFL while the Dolphins were the worst. During the 2019 season, the Dolphins only rushed for 1,156 yards as a team.

Expecting the Dolphins' running game to be as good as the 49ers might be a little too high of expectations, but this still a squad that added a lot of talent to their backfield.

If the running game is good, and Ryan Fitzpatrick or Tua Tagovailoa has a big season, maybe they could be competitive in the AFC East.
