The Miami Dolphins are not concerned at all about Tua Tagovailoa's injury situation.

The Dolphins selected the University of Alabama quarterback with the No. 5 overall selection during the 2020 NFL Draft. Miami had been linked to Tua ever since last season, but the move still came as a bit of a surprise. After all, the Dolphins became interested in University of Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert, who shot up draft boards in the weeks leading up to the draft.

However. the Dolphins still chose Tagovailoa over Herbert as their franchise QB of the future. Head coach Brian Flores explains why the Dolphins have no concern regarding his prior injuries moving forward.

Via Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated:

“Yeah, we’re very comfortable,” Grier told me. “Really, it’s nothing different. We all know in this game, people get hurt. He's had some injuries that people talk about, but the part that people miss is a couple of the surgeries he had, he was doing it to rush back sooner, to be with his teammates and play. Some people may have elected not to do it, and kind of ride it out. He handled adversity well and showed his mental toughness, and his work ethic to come back from those things.

“Our doctors and trainers did an outstanding job, like they do on every player. With him specifically, they did nothing above and beyond of the same thing they do. They checked all the boxes and made sure we were all comfortable and feeling good about it. Brian [Flores], myself, ownership, we were very comfortable with it.”

Tagovailoa struggled with key injuries during his final season, as his season ended early due to a hip dislocation. However, when he was on the field, he was absolutely dynamic. He won a National Championship for the Crimson Tide and led them back to the big game the following season.

The Dolphins will hope for a similar type of success as they move forward with Tagovailoa as their franchise quarterback.
