The Miami Dolphins were attempting to make a comeback on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday and they had to do so without one of their key pass-catchers. With time winding down in the fourth quarter, Mike Gesicki left the field with an apparent arm injury.

After a two-yard pass from Tua Tagovailoa to Gesicki, the receiving tight end was writhing in pain. Gesicki was grabbing at his shoulder on his right arm after being tackled by Tyrann Mathieu, indicating that it could be a fracture or a dislocation.
The Penn State product had his arm being held up by the medical staff to avoid further injury. Given that, it would be a surprise to see Gesicki return to the game, especially with it being in the fourth quarter.
Prior to him heading to the locker room, Gesicki put together a stellar performance against the Chiefs. In the first three and a half quarters, Gesicki caught five passes for 65 yards and two touchdowns.
Article Continues BelowThe third-year tight end has become an intricate part of Miami's passing attack. And with Tagovailoa under center, he's become a reliable receiving option for the rookie quarterback.
By combining his numbers on Sunday, Gesicki has accounted for 44 receptions for 602 yards and six touchdowns in the 2020 season. Furthermore, he's now had a touchdown in three consecutive games for the Dolphins.
If Gesicki is forced to miss any time, then Durham Smythe and Adam Shaheen would see more snaps at tight end. Both Smythe and Shaheen have combined for five touchdowns this season.
The Dolphins lost, but they are still in good position to make the playoffs. They will be interested in the Las Vegas Raiders' game against the Indianapolis Colts, and in the Baltimore Ravens' game against the Cleveland Browns. Raider and Raven losses would aid the Dolphins' cause.
