Tua Tagovailoa is still recovering from a season-ending hip injury that he suffered at Alabama as he enters his rookie season with the Miami Dolphins. Despite the severity of his injury, Tagovailoa appears to be ahead of schedule in his recovery process.

According to Kevin Wilk, the physical therapist who has been working with Tagovailoa, he's astonished at the progress the first-year quarterback has made already:

“He’s doing miraculously well,” Kevin Wilk, a renown physical therapist in the sports world who has been working with Tagovailoa at the Champion Sports Medicine facility in Birmingham, Alabama said. “The miraculous part is that he healed so well. The second part is, he’s been so well at getting his strength back, which usually takes a long time after something like this.”

Ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft, Tagovailoa posted a video of himself throwing the ball again. It was the first time that he had been cleared to throw a football since he suffered the hip injury.

Nevertheless, the Dolphins would feel comfortable enough to select Tagovailoa with the No. 5 pick in the first round. While Wilk understands he has to be cautious with Tagovailoa, the left-handed passer is always eager to do more.

“He’s a little bit ahead as far as where we would like him,” Wilk added. “We’re constantly trying to slow him down just a little bit because an athlete like that is just chomping at the bit just begging to get back out there. He wants to do more and more so we have to hold him back. And really, that was from the beginning. He always wanted to do more.”

It remains to be seen if Tagovailoa starts in Week 1 for the Dolphins. Meanwhile, seeing that he's ahead of schedule, it could be an interesting training camp for Miami.
