There's nothing like a shiny present wrapped with a ribbon on top to make your mom feel special on Mother's Day. Miami Dolphins rookie Tua Tagovailoa did just that but upped the stakes a bit.

The 22-year-old quarterback from the University of Alabama surprised his mom with a brand new Cadillac Escalade on Sunday. Not a bad way to spend your signing bonus:

Tagovailoa was drafted fifth overall by the Dolphins in the recently concluded 2020 NFL Draft, which was all done via videoconferencing due to the coronavirus pandemic. The young quarterback is set to receive a $30.3 million contract over four years with a $19.6 million signing bonus to boot.

Coming into the draft, Tagovailoa played three years for the Crimson Tide, posting multiple records and numerous accolades. He finished his stint at Alabama with the most career passing touchdowns (87) and career total touchdowns (96) in the university's history. He also set a new NCAA FBS passer rating record of 199.4 back in 2018.

The Dolphins took the risk and selected the Hawaii native despite the red flags about his health. Tagovailoa suffered a season-ending injury in November 2019, dislocating his hip with a handful of games remaining in the season.

Even after a successful surgery and rehabilitation, Tua was still unable to participate in the 2020 NFL Draft Combine. A few weeks before draft day, the rookie was able to set up his own training camp and turn in a Pro Day video of his 72-throw workout, which caught the eye of Miami and clearly convinced them he was okay.
