Dominick Cruz is back and he's taking on Pedro Munhoz at UFC 269. The two were rumored to have different fights in the works but this is the one the UFC chose for the December pay-per-view event.

The matchup was first reported by MMAFighting. The contest is currently in the works and both fighters have reached a verbal agreement.

The fighters will need to sign their respective contracts in order for the bout to become official for UFC 269. The matchup is a very fun one between two high-level contenders at bantamweight.

Dominick Cruz is at a tricky point in his career. Injuries have slowed down his progress as champion at 135 and he's missed significant time in his career.

He was forced to miss almost four years after losing his title to Cody Garbrandt and he missed two years and three years in the early days of his UFC career. It appears he's back on track as he's set to compete for the second time in 2021.

Dominick Cruz is coming off of a split-decision victory over Casey Kenney back in March. Before that, he lost to Henry Cejudo via TKO in Cejudo's last fight before retiring.

Pedro Munhoz is coming off of a loss to Jose Aldo at UFC 265. Before that, he beat Jimmie Rivera by decision in February.

The pair will be looking to put themselves in a good position to get closer to the bantamweight title. The winner will still have some ways to go but they won't be far from a top contender fight.
