To say that Dwight Howard was delighted with winning his first ever career championship with the Los Angeles Lakers would be a complete understatement. The 34-year-old veteran had a strong message after the game, as he spoke about pursuing one's own dreams.

Howard took to social media to send out an NSFW inspirational message, as he held the championship trophy:

After starting the first five games of the Finals against the Miami Heat, Howard was demoted to a bench role for Game 6. In a stroke of genius, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel opted to play small-ball from the get-go, starting Alex Caruso in the place of Howard. The 6-foot-10 big man logged only a minute of garbage time action in this one, but he did drain a three-pointer in the dying moments.

Howard has had a tumultuous past few years in the NBA, and at one point, there were more than a few folks that had already counted him out. The former three-time Defensive Player of the Year winner got his shot with the Lakers when they signed him last summer, and it was in L.A. that he found his form again.

Howard's return to glory is widely-attributed to his willingness to embrace his new role with the Lakers. From being a cornerstone superstar for the most part of his career, Howard was asked to play a bench role for the Purple & Gold. Howard set his ego aside, as he put the good of the team before his own. This has resulted to his first ever championship, and as you can see in his emotional message above, all the hard work and sacrifice was worth it for him.
