The Philadelphia Eagles received good news on Thursday, as Pro-Bowler wide out Alshon Jeffery returned to practice.

This is huge for Jeffery, who's been out of action since last December after suffering a foot sprain against the New York Giants. Since then, he hasn't even been able to practice. Where his return to practice corresponds to him returning to game action remains a bit murky, but the Eagles should take joy in knowing that his services aren't far removed from the field anymore.

The Eagles obviously had faith in Jeffery's availability early on into the season. They elected to keep him on their 53-man roster for roster cuts in September, meaning that at some point his target return would be within the first six games.

Jeffery caught 43 of 73 targeted passes during the 2019 season along with four touchdowns. Those numbers don't necessarily jump off the page. However, Jeffery dealt with minor injuries last season as well that prevented him from performing at top peak. Hopefully, the extended time away from the field has boosted his health.

Even so, a 75 percent Jeffery is something the Eagles desperately need at the moment. DeSean Jackson is in a must-prove mode with his best days behind him. Rookie receiver Jalen Reagor isn't set to return until at least November as he nurses a thumb injury he suffered against the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday.

Adding Jeffery's veteran experience to pair alongside Jackson can give the Eagles a boost in the catching department. For now, the Eagles will look for their first win of the season on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
