The Philadelphia Eagles are currently plagued by injuries and they may be without another one of their pass-catcher on Sunday. Alshon Jeffery is unlikely to play in Week 3 versus the Detroit Lions per Adam Schefter.
During last Sunday night's game against the Atlanta Falcons, DeSean Jackson, Jeffery, and Dallas Goedert all left the game with injuries. Jackson has already been ruled out and it seems as if Jeffery is headed for the same fate in Week 3.
Neither Jackson and Jeffery recorded a reception in Week 2 but their production won't be easy to replace. Altogether, the two top receivers in the Eagles offense has combined for 13 receptions, 203 yards, and three touchdowns.
As for Jeffery possibly being out, Philadelphia could be losing one of their reliable red-zone targets. In light of that, expect to see Zach Ertz receive an uptick in targets from Carson Wentz.
Along with Ertz, Nelson Agholor, Mack Hollins, and rookie JJ Arcega-Whiteside will be relied upon in the passing game. Hollins and Agholor both showed that they can be viable options after Jackson and Jeffery exited the game.
Furthermore, Hollins and Agholor combined for 13 receptions, 157 yards, and a touchdown against the Falcons in Week 2. The rookie, Arcega-Whiteside, failed to make the most of his opportunities with just one catch for four yards on four targets.
Over the course of the offseason, Philadelphia raved about the depth of their receiving corps. With that in mind, they are going to need everyone on their depth chart to contribute for their offense in Week 3 against a stingy Lions defense.
