Although the Philadelphia Eagles have already locked up the NFC East division title and assured themselves a spot in the playoffs thanks to a 43-35 win over the Los Angeles Rams Sunday, the success came at a big cost. In the third quarter of that game, Eagles quarterback and NFL MVP contender Carson Wentz went down with a knee injury. He was later diagnosed with a torn ACL and has now been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Wentz seemed to be in high spirits, though, in a video he posted on his Twitter account. Wentz thanked everyone for their support and prayers. He also vowed to come back stronger from the injury.

I can promise to everybody — all my fans out there in the Philly area and the North Dakota area, all across this country — this will not stop me. Going forward, I will come back stronger than ever. I will use this as motivation and I will be attacking it this whole process as I recover.

Before leaving the Rams game, Wentz managed to throw for 291 yards and four touchdowns on 23-of-41 completions. With his season done, Wentz’ sophomore year in the NFL concludes with him having racked up 3,296 passing yards and 33 touchdowns against just seven interceptions.

Instead of Wentz, the Eagles will now rely on the arm of Nick Foles, who inherits the starting gig from Wentz and reprises the role he had with the team a few years back. Philadelphia will also ask more from its backfield tandem of LeGarrette Blount and Jay Ajayi to keep the offense afloat.
