The Philadelphia Eagles made a rather surprising move in the second round of the NFL Draft late last month, taking University of Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts with the 53rd overall pick.

Given the fact that the Eagles already have Carson Wentz under center and had plenty of other holes on the roster, their decision to select Hurts understandable raised some eyebrows.

But Wentz isn't sweating the pick, saying he is looking forward to playing with his new teammate:

“I’m excited to add him to the team,” Wentz said, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “I know how important the quarterback position is and the dynamic is for me and other guys in that room.”

As for whether or not Wentz is wondering just what general manager Howie Roseman is doing? The 27-year-old said that if he “was to start questioning Howie now, I'd be questioning myself.”

Wentz added that he will do “whatever's going to help us win” when asked how he felt about the idea of potentially sharing the field with Hurts at times.

Of course, Philadelphia's decision to pick Hurts is even more intriguing when you take into consideration that Wentz has a rather extensive injury history.

The former No. 2 overall pick tore his ACL toward the end of 2017, and in 2018, he was limited to just 11 games due to a back issue. He finally played all 16 games this past season, but then exited the Eagles' Wild Card Round playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks as a result of a concussion.
