The celebrated return of Philadelphia Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson has quickly been brought to its demise. Jackson sustained an ankle injury against the New York Giants in Week 7 on Thursday night.

After having undergone an MRI on the ankle on Friday, the Eagles believe that Jackson will be out indefinitely, forcing their hand on placing him on the injury reserved list, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Jackson took a nasty hit after a punt return late in the game, he was then hit rather late by Madre Harper after already taking one hit upon receiving the punt catch. His leg appeared to twist at an awful angle, forcing him to be carried off the field by teammates. It's believed by the Eagles staff that he suffered a high ankle sprain.

The 33-year-old wideout was viewed as a returning player that could bring a silver lining to an Eagles club that was in dire need of one. Philly hadn't found much success in the passing game aside from Travis Fulgham and Greg Ward, oftentimes leaving them depleted at the wideout position without Jackson.

Yet with Carson Wentz having a warrior-like game against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6 and the impending return of Jackson, the Eagles were primed to possibly generate some success in the midst of a disappointing season.

While they were able to walk away victorious against the Giants, it came at the price of once more losing Jackson, who had recently returned after missing time with a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined since Week 3. The Eagles have also had their fair share of injuries to their offensive unit lately, making Jackson's addition to the list harder to accept.
