The last minute decision to start backup Gardner Minshew over the injured Jalen Hurts in Week 13 caused Eagles nation to go crazy. Philadelphia fans, local radio stations, and even national media outlets questioned if this was the beginning of yet another Eagles quarterback controversy.

Despite the noise and chaos, Hurts has been surprisingly poised, focused, and optimistic about the entire situation. He spoke to the media on Wednesday afternoon, and gave his opinion on Minshew's performance in Week 13.

“It was great…obviously seeing him go out there and take advantage of the opportunity he had, I'm so happy to see him step in and go out there and get a win for us,” Hurts said.

Quite honestly, this is the best reaction he could have had. It would be easy for the 23-year-old to fall into doubt, especially with all of the talk around him about a quarterback competition. During this media appearance, it's obvious that Hurts' main priority is the success of the Eagles, which is huge for a young quarterback. It proves his confidence on the field, as well as in the locker room.

Minshew had a great game in the Eagles' Week 13 win over the Jets, but I don't think head coach Nick Sirianni is lingering on it. He told the media that Hurts will lead the Eagles when he is available.

Hurts told the media that he has been working every day to get himself ready to be back on the field leading his team as soon as possible. “I'm doing everything in my power to make myself available for my team” he said.
