The Philadelphia Eagles face Washington Football Team when they return from their bye, and there won't be any quarterback controversy between Gardner Minshew and Jalen Hurts. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed that Hurts would be the starter when healthy. This puts him ahead of Minshew on Sirianni's team sheet.

According to NFL.com, Hurts is expected to be back for the Eagles' next game against Washington. He has been out with an ankle injury, but he could be healthy enough by Week 15. The bye week works in his favor as well, giving him more time to recover.

However, backup Minshew has put in some impressive displays in Hurts' absence. Last week, Minshew put in a strong performance against the New York Jets. Minshew recorded 20 of 25 for 242 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. While he may lose his starting spot when Hurts returns, his current stats are certainly not letting him down.

In fact, Minshew had already been drawing interest from other teams in the league prior to his recent games (via NFL.com):

Sources say during the season, the Carolina Panthers spoke with Philly about Minshew, discussing what the compensation would be. They never dug deep on a possible trade, but they did discuss what it might take. The Panthers called before they acquired Matt Barkley and before they signed Cam Newton. Given the way Minshew played, they won't be alone.

Minshew is currently under contract with the Eagles until 2022. Most teams view Gardner Minshew as a bridge starter with some advantages. At the very least, he's a high-level backup for most teams. While the Nick Sirianni has publicly expressed Jalen Hurts' starting status, Minshew's solid displays could interestingly earn him a move elsewhere.
