The Philadelphia Eagles indicated that the foot injury suffered by defensive tackle Malik Jackson may be significant. It appears their worst fears have now been confirmed.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Jackson will be out fo the rest of the 2019 NFL season with a lisfranc injury.

Eagles DT Malik Jackson is expected to miss the season with a Lisfranc injury suffered Sunday vs. the Redskins, sources tell me. Jackson will have surgery next week.

The loss of Jackson undoubtedly deals a crushing blow to the Eagles' defensive line. They wasted no time in signing him to a three-year, $30 million deal as soon as he hit the market this offseason. It seems his debut season in Philadelphia has ended after just one game.

Although the Eagles still have yet to set an official timetable, it is safe to assume that he will be placed on injured reserve. This means he will be slated to miss at least the next eight weeks, however, the severity of the injury indicates that it could take longer for him to make his return.

As a result, Philadelphia will now look to their depth to help fill the void. Defensive tackle Tim Jernigan was the one that filled in for Jackson alongside defensive tackle Fletcher Cox. Defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway will also see an increase in snaps as the only other healthy option on the interior. His injury will also open up another spot on the roster for the Eagles to bring someone else in before Week 2.
