With the start of the NFL season just over a month away, it's officially time for word to begin leaking out of organizations about how certain players are “locked in,” “focused,” and “engaging with other people.” This is no different for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, who earned said praise from folks within the organization, per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.

Whether that leads to Jeffery opening the season on the field or not remains to be seen. The talented wideout will begin training camp on the PUP list as he works his way back from a Lisfranc injury that cut his 2019 campaign short.

If Philadelphia has had one bugaboo over the past few seasons outside of the health of quarterback Carson Wentz, it's been having a lack of playmakers on the field when he's healthy. An engaged Jeffery could be exactly what the Eagles need as a star wideout, hoping that when they do get him back, he'll be able to flash the abilities that warranted a four-year, $52 million deal.

Just once since the start of 2015 has Jeffery appeared in all 16 games during the regular season. But the 490 receiving yards that he was limited to in 10 games last year was the fewest he has had since breaking into the league with the Chicago Bears in 2012.

One has to figure that even with the added weapons that the Eagles brought aboard for 2020, Jeffery will remain a focal point of the offense once he is cleared to return to action.
